What a beautiful
coincidence to meet Mikel, who I knew from the days of Dubai before he moved to
Saudi Arabia, and who was in Toronto for couple of days for work.
He called me from his
hotel, and we agreed to meet, and the good surprise, Mikel had tickets to visit
the CN tower, which I was postponing to do it during Summer time to make sure
the weather is good and the view is clear..
So I met Mikel at the
lobby of his hotel and we walked to the CN Tower..
It was nice that we got
already our tickets so we skipped the long queue and we headed straight to the
elevator to go to the top of the tower after we passed the security search of
course.
We were lucky with the
weather, super clear and the view was breathtaking, seeing the whole city of
Toronto, and the Island, and having the feel that you’re on top of the world.
The fantastic part as
well, but a scary one was the glass floor, couldn’t walk on it while looking
down for more than 3 seconds then had to look up J
The CN Tower was built by Canadian National Railways in 1976, it took approximately 40
months to build it.
In 1995
the CN Tower became a public company and continues to be federally owned and
managed by Canada Lands Company (CLC) Limited, a crown corporation.
The height of the tower is
553.33 m / 1,815 ft, 5 inches (World’s Tallest Tower, Building and Freestanding
Structure from 1976-2010).
The tower offers
broadcasting facilities, providing transmission for UHF, VHF television, FM
Radio, microwave transmissions, fixed mobile systems.. All major Broadcast, AM, FM
and DAB Radio stations as well as wireless service providers use the CN Tower
for transmission.
I thanked Mikel for this
great visit, and for giving me the chance to get this closer look at the CN
tower, the beautiful landmark on this city, and a point of reference and
direction for all Torontonians.
